What is this world coming to?
...when we can't even go to work without fear of being a victim? I woke up this morning to the news of the "Terror in London", where at least 4 explosives were planted in or around public transportation. It's almost like 9/11 all over again, but this time with some very different factors-
-This comes at a time when something like this was probably the last thing most Londoners were thinking about- these people were still in the midst of their celebration and elation over being chosen as the host of the 2010 Olympics.
-Perhaps the most disturbing, this happened on subways and buses insteaed of airplanes. What makes this so disturbing, though, is that there's no way to monitor who gets on a bus, or a subway. There are no metal detectors or rules about what can and cannot be taken aboard. When I get on a plane, I have some comfort knowing that everyone was subject to searches, etc., that protects my security. But we can't do this for subways and buses- so this could happen every day, and we would be pretty much clueless as to how to prevent it.
-Finally, this comes in the midst of our War On Terror. To some people, this kind of thing may undermine the world's efforts to eradicate terrorism. But to me, it just affirms our mission, and in fact makes it even more pressing that we continue our objective to eliminate these cowardly terrors.
I will send out a message on behalf of my community, my country, and my world to the terrorists- you will not win this. Your attempts to break our spirit have only rallied us to fight together to stop you and your ways. You hurt our friend, and we hurt you.
To the people of England- we extend our deepest sympathy to you and your families. May God give you the strength to overcome this. God Bless the U.S.A., and its allies.
