U.N. Inspectors: Saddam shipped out WMD before and after war

According the World Tribune...

"The United Nations has determined that Saddam Hussein shipped weapons of mass destruction components as well as medium-range ballistic missiles before, during and after the U.S.-led war against Iraq in 2003.

The UN Monitoring, Verification and Inspection Commission briefed the Security Council on new findings that could help trace the whereabouts of Saddam's missile and WMD program.

The briefing contained satellite photographs that demonstrated the speed with which Saddam dismantled his missile and WMD sites before and during the war. Council members were shown photographs of a ballistic missile site outside Baghdad in May 2003, and then saw a satellite image of the same location in February 2004, in which facilities had disappeared.

UNMOVIC acting executive chairman Demetrius Perricos told the council on June 9 that "the only controls at the borders are for the weight of the scrap metal, and to check whether there are any explosive or radioactive materials within the scrap," Middle East Newsline reported.

"It's being exported," Perricos said after the briefing. "It's being traded out. And there is a large variety of scrap metal from very new to very old, and slowly, it seems the country is depleted of metal."

"The removal of these materials from Iraq raises concerns with regard to proliferation risks," Perricos told the council. Perricos also reported that inspectors found Iraqi WMD and missile components shipped abroad that still contained UN inspection tags."

He said the Iraqi facilities were dismantled and sent both to Europe and around the Middle East. at the rate of about 1,000 tons of metal a month. Destionations included Jordan, the Netherlands and Turkey." (Credit to World Tribune- read the full article here.

Whoa!!

Am I the only one who realizes what a big thing this is? Why isn't this being reported- it happened last Friday!! I wouldn't have even found it if not for the link posted in the comments section at Right Wing News. Let's hope that just because it's still being verified, and not because the media is choosing to ignore it. (Although when do they eve care whether or not somthing is verified if it trashes Bush?)

Here are some more links posted by "bungoman85" and Right Wing News-

Everybody needs to e-mail the article to all their friends, especially the liberal ones, so that even if the media DOES choose to act as if nothing positive ever happens with the war, the voters will know the truth.

"One Nation, Under God"

The Supreme Court has ruled that the words, "One Nation, Under God" will remain in the Pledge of Allegiance, at least for now.

However, it is pretty much only on a technicality- the court ruled that the atheist father, Micheal Newdow, could not sue to ban the pledge from his daughter's school becaus he does not have legal authority to speak for her. He is in a custody fight with the girl's mother and does not have sufficient custody to represent her. The girl's mother told the court she has no objection to the Pledge.

Chief Justice William H. Rehnquist agreed with the ruling, and even wrote separately to say that the Pledge does NOT violate the Constitution, and justices Sandra Day O'Connor and Clarence Thomas agreed with him. (If you would like to read Fox New's full article on it, click here.

The only thing I can say: HA!!

American ideals and American values will win out over liberalism and the attempted destruction of our belief system. Something else I would like to add- read the First Amendment. ALL of it-

"Congress shall make no law respecting the establishment of a religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances."

We hear that first clause all the time. But people always seem to oh-so-conveniantly forget that second clause.

Banning the Pledge is prohibiting the free exercise of MY religion. But because of our great court system, I'm going to exercise it again-

GOD BLESS AMERICA- ONE NATION, UNDER GOD.

The Left-ward spin

It's been awhile since I've been the the Democratic Underground website, so I decided to pay them a visit, mostly because I was interested in seeing what the extreme left's reaction to President Ronald Reagan's death.

One word: unbelievable.

Although I guess I shouldn't be surprised. After all, these are the same people who wanted to "dance on the grave" of Strom Thurmond and made remarks such as, "Wouldn't it be funny if God turned out to be a lesbian?"

It's sickening, really.

Possibly the worst one I've seen so far, in refence to the transportation of the casket-

"Now they've actually panned in so close to the rear window that you can actually SEE the end of the flag draped coffin.
I'm taping all this so I see it again and again."

Oh. My. Gosh. That is just sick.

Now I believe there is a difference in being joyous over the death of a enemy of the country- let's say Saddam Hussein, for example. Even this can be taken too far, however. But to celebrate when a fellow American, a president no less, has died? Simply because he was not a member of your party? Unbelievable.

Get this one-
"obviously a dead president is more important then any of our troops who have given their lives fighting for people who do not even want a Democracy... Our troops do not even get a tribute on the 6 O'Clock news when their bodies return home. Typical as to it depends on how important you are to the elite. If you are not one of them . . . screw you and yours." (At least this one has a few people disagreeing... read the full post here.)

Come on people. I've said this before, and I'll say it again- sometimes you need to stop being a democrat/republican or whatever, and start being an American.

Remembering a great President

Okay so maybe I was only 2 years old when he left office. But I still know, from reading speeches and gathering public opinion on Ronald Reagan, that "The Great Orator" was one of the best presidents that we've had in a long time (not counting Bush, of course).

The majority of the country will agree with me, I think. Look at the numbers alone- in 1984 incumbant president Ronald Reagan won all except for 1 state! And even in 1980, all except for about 4 states went to him.

Reagan has been attributed with playing a major role in the fall of the Berlin Wall... we won't soon forget the many eloquent speeches he made throughout his presidency.

Along with possibly preventing nuclear war with his "Star Wars Missile Defense Program", I think it's safe to say that Ronald Reagan will go down in history as being a great president who left a long-lasting legacy.
