Questionable U.N. practices

This is a story you probably won't hear anywhere else with the exception of Fox News or maybe some other Republican sites. This is big stuff, and few details are avaliable, but I'll tell you what I can.

As you probably know, after the Gulf War the United Nations put sanctions on Iraq and Saddam, one of which was that he could not sell oil to outside countries for fear that he would take that money to buy weapons. After awhile, however, Saddam basically said, "Look, if I can't sell our natural resources, then I can't afford to feed my people." So the U.N. started the Oil For Food program- OFF. Everything was going well and good, at least as far as that goes. But, now that Saddam's regime is no more, invesitigations are being done. In what I believe is Cuba, or some country in that area, bank accounts have been found with millions of dollars or whatever there currency is, linked to Saddam. BUT where is he getting the money? The biggest account is linked to a man with the last name of Anin. This man's father is none other than KOFI ANIN, cheif weapons inspector for the U.N. that supposedly found nothing suggesting any sort of WMD's, or weapons of mass destruction.

Suspicous? You bet it is. Is it possible that the Anin family has been BRIBED to NOT find anything? Will this investigation be followed up on? The Associated Press has yet to pick up on it, and no news station other than Fox will report on it. There is also something having to do with France, but I don't want to say anything until I have more accurate details. So I'll do what I can to find out and I'll get back to you on that one as soon as possible.

News items of worth

----> A self-proclaimed "anti-war activist" from Maryland was recently arrested on charges of treasony and spying for Iraq, both before AND after Saddam's regime fall. She supposedly had access to some "insider information", I don't really know all the details, just that she was passing them over.

---->Saddam has a lawyer. And he's French. Jacques Verges stated on Sunday that he believes the United States violated the Geneva Convention on several counts in its detention of Saddam, and said the world would probably wait for a very long time before the trial to determine what he did wrong (other than killing an estimated 300,000 men, women and children during his 23 years as president-dictator.) Verges, known for taking on clients including terrorists and a Nazi leader, criticized President Bush for pronouncing the former dictator guilty of atrocities.

---->French people are more stupid than we thought.

---->The new leader of the Hamas terrorist group claims Bush is the enemy of Islam and that "God declared war" against Bush, the United States, and Israel. "We know that Bush is the enemy of God, the enemy of Islam and Muslims. America delcared war against God." Okay whatever you say.

---->Buy your 2004 campaign stuff from . They have really cool stuff at good prices.

---->John Kerry is a loser. But of course you already knew that.

---->Go Duke, beat Oklahoma.

Just a few things

Here it is, March 29, and I haven't posted in almost 4 weeks! Geez what has gotten into me? Please accept my apologies :( No hard feelings?

But seriously, the past few weeks and the next few weeks have been and will be VERY hectic for me, as this time of the year always is. In between research papers, track meets, and cheerleading practices, I've had very little time to just kick back. Cheerleading try-outs are approaching- no I don't automatically get a spot on the team and I have to try-out every year- and as this is my junior year and I am trying out for next year's team, April 7th marks the date of my very last cheerleading try-out ever!! So until then I will be spending a lot of time on my tumbling, jumps, etc.

Last Thursday was the district speech and debate tournament, and yours truly maintainted her title of district champion for Lincoln-Douglas debate!! yea!! :D I also got second place in persuasive extemporaneous speaking, and at the district academics UIL contest on Saturday I got first place in Current Issues and Events, meaning I will be competing in the regional tournaments for all 3 events towards the end of April, and then hopefully on to state!! :D

So I promise more is to come as my schedule beings to clear up in the next few weeks. Oh and one more thing- as far as the NCAA college basketball tournament goes, GO DUKE, ALL THE WAY TO NUMBER 1!!! :)

Hollywood and Politics

Sorry that I didn't get around to my usual weekend post, but Saturday night was my high school prom, and, well, can you blame me for having something other than politics on my mind for one night? lol BUT I'm making up for it today, as today was a sick day for me :( so I had to stay home all day and not go to school... darn.

Okay so the Oscars were 3 nights ago, but that's okay, because now you get to read all about them in case you missed them! Alright, maybe not everything about them, just the important stuff.

First of all, the big winner- Lord of the Rings: Return of the Kings took home a total of 11 Oscars- big deal. Okay so that's a pretty good achievement, but I personally didn't like the first Lord of the Rings and never bothered to see the other two.

But now on the the important matters- who's the biggest idiot of the year. My personal vote goes out to- the envelope please- Sean Penn, for Mystic River.

I used to like Sean Penn. When I saw "I Am Sam" a few years ago, I remember thinking what a good actor he was. That, however, was before I realized that he's as stupid as the character he plays.

On Sunday night, he won something- best actor maybe?- I don't remember. But of course, he coudn't pass up the opportunity to express his views-

"One thing all actors know- besides that there were no WMD's..."

Grr. I'm all for free speech and everything, but come on. You're an actor, not a politician, and you have made it quite clear that you hate the war, Bush, and just America in general (okay that one may be a little bit exaggerated, but you get the point.)

As a closing point, something very exciting is happening to me on Thursday, and hopefully I have enough to write about it- but it's a secret!!
